This exhibition (In praise of idleness and passing time) is on at Le Préau in Maxéville (54) until 30 June 2017.
In particular, Alain Simon is showing one of his works entitled “L’envers du décor” (behind the scenes), a mixed media work on a 56 x 76 cm sheet of ARCHES® Watercolour 300 gsm paper: drawing + watercolour + acrylic wash + black chalk.
Alain Simon is originally from Moselle and still lives there today. He teaches at the École Supérieure d’Art de Lorraine. His different work experiences, his exhibitions abroad and his contacts with other artists have changed the way he sees the links between time, art and life. According to him, an artist flourishes when he or she shares and exchanges with others. His paintings have developed along with his relationship with passing time. He also something of a poet in his spare time.
Alain Simon: “In my latest drawings, my relationship to time has changed, my reading of it has become less linear, but the question remains the same: from my story to yours, what are the connections we can share for the time it takes to make a drawing?”.
