Everyone to Belgium to discover José Gietka!

José Gietka is a Belgian painter born in Herstal in 1957 (Liège region).
He studied Art Nouveau, Impressionism and Byzantine art at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Liège, and he is interested in glassmaking, porcelain and faience. He also has a qualification in cabinet-making.

It was in the 2000s that he began to study painting and more particularly watercolour painting with Roland Palmaerts, who taught him technique and colour.
In 2010, he earned the Maîtres Palm’Arts course diploma.

His original, colourful, light-filled works are the product entirely of his imagination, as he works without making preliminary drawings, in a quick and very emotional process, always on ARCHES® Aquarelle paper.
He has trained himself in picture framing and frames all his own works.

José Gietka is a surrealist symbolist painter listed in the AKOUN guide and Drouot dictionary. He has been teaching watercolour technique and creative drawing in Namur since 2011.
