Doug Sneyd, the veteran Playboy cartoonist!

Doug Sneyd was born in Guelph, Ontario, but spent much of his professional career in Toronto. Canadian artist, he has had nearly 500 full-page color cartoons, all rendered on ARCHES® Watercolour 140 lb cold pressed paper using Dr. Ph. Martin’s aniline dyes and published in Playboy magazine since 1964.

Starting out as a book and magazine illustrator, Sneyd has also had a successful career as a syndicated cartoonist; for nearly 20 years, starting in the mid-60’s, his “Doug Sneyd” and “Scoops” cartoons ran daily for nearly twenty years in newspapers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Each year, Doug Sneyd exhibits at a number of comics-cartoon conventions, selling original art, limited edition prints, commissioned artwork and personalized sketchbooks.

The Art of Doug Sneyd, published in July 2011 by Dark Horse Books, features 270 of his Playboy cartoons. The 248-page hardcover book was also a 2012 Eisner Award nominee in the Best Humor Publication category.

As well, 30 of his Playboy originals are among the 235 Sneyd works included in the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa.
